I was looking for a subject to build for an upcoming model contest miscellaneous class. I saw this kit and thought it would be really unique. It was originally designed in 1970 but the molding is super clean. Not exactly a kit I would recommend to a beginner but it did not pose any real big assembly problems. There are some smaller finicky parts but overall builds smoothly. The one area to watch is the positioning of the legs. I didn't get them quite spread out as far as they should have been. I didn't notice this until I set the vehicle on the base. So it was off a bit. The gold foil was neat and fairly easy to apply (there are templates). I used a variety of paints and weathering on the moon base.
