First and foremost I have to say Revell kits are awesome this kit has no flash or mold lines and the parts fit is amazing I found it very fun to assemble it's not a difficult level 3 so I think even a novice model builder should have no trouble with this kit. I looked and this kit has a lot of parts in common with the club coupe version except this kit does not have the race car version. There are many chrome parts you can use that are not listed in the instructions such as the 88 emblems, hood ornament, and the chrome tail light and turn signal trim. The instructions are clear and easy to understand I consider myself an average model builder and for me this kit was very fun. Also this version comes with a 3 carb intake set up and not the single carb setup that the club coupe has.

"1950 Olds Custom"

Very good skill 3 kit. Everything fit together with precision and instructions are detailed. Not a lot of trimming/sanding was needed on the parts, and no putty was needed. There are a few different ways you can build the kit with optional wheels, suspension heights and decals. It took me about a week to assemble working on it a few hours in the evenings after work. I decided to try my hand at a un-restored patina'd paint job on this one, and it came out well. Take note, this is different than the similar 1950 Olds Coupe 2n1 model. This is a custom coupe with lowered suspension and a few custom trim options. The Olds Coupe 2n1 kit is either a stock Olds coupe or a racing version.

Revell decided to include new taillights in this second release of this kit... in decal form! Thank goodness they didn't drop the original taillights off the chrome tree, but if you don't look real careful, you could miss them because there isn't a single word about them in the instructions! The new chrome hubcaps are unusable. One of the spokes on each cap has flash right next to it - on a highly visible part of the cap, meaning that if you try to remove it, you'll have an ugly white scar right where it will show. It's too bad they didn't attempt to keep the quality as high as it was in the first 1950 Olds they released, which was a kit that was worth every penny. In fact, I'll be buying one of those so that when the run is all gone, I still have one!

This was a fairly easy build. Should have purchased kit #RMX854254 to get the non-custom version. However--I am satisfied with the results. Needed to clamp the chassis to the body (front and rear) in order to glue it together properly. No real issues or cons. Nice model and accurate in detail.
