"Trumpeter 1/35 Soviet KV-7 (Object 227) kit #TSM9504"
djackson1959 (Lamar, CO)
This Soviet prototype tank is the successor to the one represented in the Trumpeter 1/35 Soviet KV-7 Mod. 1941 kit #TSM9503. Like the other kit, it is of the same nice quality and detail work. The wartime Soviets were incredibly lax towards their official designations given to various units, especially in the prototype/proposal design category. Both this unit, and its predecessor, were designed under the Obj. 227 project, with this unit frequently being distinguished form the other by the designation of KV-7-2. As with the other kit, the tread system is of the molded sectional link type, with no option of the longer rubber strip style. Also like the other kit, the roadwheels are a mix from the KV-1 M1942 type, and from the KV-1S M1942/1943 with extra-large perforations. The difference in armament from the predecessor unit was an attempt towards increasing the firepower of the unit, and laid groundwork for the development of the SU-152 SPG. The kit is of very nice quality and is finely detailed, and I would highly recommend it to others.
