This set has been around since the early '70's- maybe even earlier, and the molds are showing some age. However, all in all this isn't a bad set. The figures are all wearing the 1943 uniform and represent nicely the bagginess of the pants and the multitude of cargo pockets. The sculpting is good and the poses adequate. Just adequate. Only 4 figures are standing; an officer, a man firing a carbine, a man running with Garand, and a man with a grease gun. The other poses include a kneeling bazooka man with incredibly poor detail- causing me to wonder if it even belonged in the set- and two poses laid out on the ground, one creeping and the other firing a 30 cal. Not one figure carries or throws a grenade. Not a pineapple in site. Of all the WW2 Airfix sets I have seen, this is probably the weakest in variety. Still, having grown up playing with the old Louis Marx playsets and the 1/72 Airfix figures I did not even consider going with the glue together figures so common with diorama makers today. My hobbies include nostalgia and enjoyment and not necessarily being and having the best and most accurate.
