Facts Successor to the world famous Tiger Moth biplane, the Chipmunk was the first original design by deHavilland Canada and was built in quantity in both Canada and Great Britain for the R.A.F. It was used primarily as a basic train- er to provide air cadets with elementary flying instructions prior to going on to jet aircraft training.
