1/24 Gemini Space Capsule

This kit, like most space kits of the 60's and 70's, has cool working features and a lot of detail, most of which you can actually see because you can disassemble the components. The hatches open to reveal a fairly decent interior, although no interior decals are provided and much more detail could of course be added. The astronaut figures are pretty good and do not have to be glued in, since the hatches open. Level of detail is overall good. The 2 rear modules can be removed from the reentry part (the black part), and again there is a fair amount of detail there, including tanks and such. The service bay in the rear looks quite empty and could be filled up with all sorts of detail by an ambitious modeler. Fit of the parts, for the most part, is good. The real Gemini had a gold Mylar cover (not in the kit) over the rear, which of course would cover up all that neat detail. Exterior decals are good, although you might have a fight on your hands getting them to conform to the corrugations - a toothpick, applied on it's side, helps a lot here. If you're REALLY ambitious, scratch-build a 1/24 Titan II booster for it. It would be about 5 feet tall.
