'23 Camaro Erik Jones #43 STP

I have been on a Petty kick lately, experiencing varying success in terms of quality of molding, detal, fit and decals. However, this one, well, is much, much, better and starting to approach Tamiya in quality. First hints came during unboxing and seeing decals that offered not only the vermillion color, but also a separate sheet 2/3'rd s the size of the main sheet for window molding and the various black pieces around the car! I must say though, Other clues where parts trees molded in 4 colors, easy to see tree numbers, the trees sized to the box and stacked nicely (or so I thought). As I got into the build, found that roll bar and other pieces had been deformed, parts that had broken off trees in shipping and needed repairs (a little glue was all that was needed). There are still fiddly parts that needed triming and forming. mold seams in the body that needed a few hours work to clean, etc. The front hood was particularly troublesome, until I found that the under lip at the rear of the hood was preventing the part from laying flat. Assembly and decal wise this kit is somewhat complex, but goes together more easily than the Salvino 1/25th kits, probably the best choice among the current crop from a build perspective. Don't forget to have a few pennies close by since they are used to set the ride height!
