Spotlight Review

"over all a great model from the past."
I remember buying this model as a child in the 70's, back then it was approx. 12 tall and part of a larger monster collection. As an adult I didn't believe I'd ever see it again, at least not for a reasonable price. I could not believe they brought it back. I quickly ordered it and while looking through the kit a ton of memories flooded though me. Even if the swimming model is 1/2 of it's older brother, it still maintains the great features it had from the past. Anyone that is a child of the late 60's and 70's and is a creature lover like me, you'll love this kit.

"A creature swimming"

I'm not sure if this kit was produced years ago and then re-popped by Moebius but whatever it is a great little kit to add to the Monsters of the Movies series. I like smaller kits and it is definitely that. I used mine though for a Cult TV Man Graveyard Scenes which meant I had to cut the creature in half. But what I saw in the box was excellent and the half I used was excellent fit and detail wise. The scene is really unique and captures the creature swimming with a detailed background. I will be getting myself a full kit to build later and highly recommend it.

This version is 1/12 scale and, while not the same pose as the original model, the underwater milieu is very nice! The kit is easy to put together and beautiful to behold! The base allows the builder a chance to exercise their creative side as well. Hobby Hint #1: Glitter has various uses in decorating model kits whether directly and clearly visible or used as a hint in the background. For example, my Creature . . . drew most attention as people stared in awe at the little, pink fish swimming behind the monster and wondered, How did you do the scales?!? The best glitter to use is translucent with just a slight tone of color and apply it only as a finishing touch, with a glue which dries clearly.

"Nice Dynamic Pose"

Nice rendition of the Creature swimming. I wasn't happy with the detailing of the mouth, so I removed enough plastic to open it. I also built my own base to recreate scenes of the Creature swimming near the lagoon bottom. This model shows impressive detail and makes for a very satisfying build and display piece.

Due to small parts that could cause a choking hazard please kee away from children 3 years of age and younger.
