USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier Boat

USS Enterprise (CV-6), was the seventh U.S. Navy vessel to bear the name. Colloquially referred to as the "Big E", she was the sixth aircraft carrier of the United States Navy. A Yorktown class carrier, she was launched in 1936 and was one of only three American carriers commissioned prior to World War II to survive the war (the others being Saratoga and Ranger). She participated in more major actions of the war against Japan than any other US ship. These actions included the Battle of Midway, the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands, various other air-sea engagements during the Guadalcanal campaign, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. On three separate occasions during the Pacific War, the Japanese announced that she had been sunk in battle, earning her the name "The Grey Ghost". Enterprise earned 20 battle stars, the most for any U.S. warship in World War II.

Spotlight Review

This is the 2nd model in this series that I have built. Built the USS HORNET earlier and had no issues. Trying to complete the series for the Battle of Midway

Good kit on sale very good price finished today spent a lot of time doing extra detailing to guns planes rigging deck and hull.

"Quality product"

Although my eyes and hands are starting to fail, this kit is still big enough for me to work and the quality of detail is excellent.

"Very old kit with simple planes."
I built this when I was a kid in the 80s and it was subsequently destroyed, so I built it again. The kit is exactly the same as it was almost 35 years ago. Waterline only and has a metal weight. The ship itself is pretty good, although the deck fit isn't so perfect, and for the machine guns you are supposed to scratch build you own; that seems kinda dumb. Aft elevator can be up or down, and you can build it to see part of the hangar deck, which is cool. The planes are pretty simple, molded in a bright blue. You get 4 each of a Hellcat, Corsair, Helldiver, and Avenger. Fine for a kid to play with, but if you want more realistic looking planes, get the Trumpeter 1/700 sets.
