"Frustration With Cables!"

While the kit assembles pretty easily, adding the thread that represents the crane hook cables turned out to be the most frustrating part of the entire assembly. The tread would twist and turn and I had issues getting the hooks to hang straight. Next time I make one, I will use stretched plastic sprue for the cables and avoid the thread altogether! Otherwise, a pretty good kit.

"Needs help for full effect."

I have modeled two engine service facilities that pretty much lie next to each other, one as a joint Class I facility shared by the SP and ATSF with the other for logging operations. I got this overhead heavy duty traveling crane to put inside the Cornerstone railroad shop WRR2970 which allows room for this kit to be installed and become an integral part of the structure. I've set this shop up (actually there are two kits combined for six stalls which modular construction allows for) as a steam loco heavy shop. As delivered it is a model that is fairly easy to build but really needs to be painted (by air brush with detail work painted by hand or do the whole thing by hand if no air brush available) to bring out all the detail. Since it is used in an SP facility I painted it in a light green as was SP practice. It fits right into the shop during construction and is a nice little add on for interior realism or can be made to be free standing. So when painted and with a little extra work (I added some extra decals and painted some safety stripes, too) you wind up with a pretty good looking model that I can recommend, within these parameters.
