Review Summary
The reviews highlight a mix of satisfaction and challenges with the trailer kits, particularly noting the detailed design and the rewarding experience of assembly despite some difficulties. A common point of frustration is the roll-up rear doors, which require patience, careful sanding, and precise fitting to function smoothly. Additionally, while some mention issues like flash on parts and the need for cleanup, others find these minor and appreciate the overall quality and value of the kits for their collections.
Twins trailers by AMT
This kit produced two very good pup trailers. The most difficult part of the assembly was the roll-up rear doors. This procedure takes a great deal of patience, caution, attention to detail and persistence. Removing the door panels from the sprues is the first step in care and patience. Don't cut more than indicated or the doors will not fit in the track. When sanding, sand a little and check to see that the panel fits in the track and goes all the way up. The bottom panel of the roll-up doors is not designed to move through the curved part of the track. Take your time and you will get a good result. This kit should be labeled Skill Level 4 or 5.
Trailmobile 27 foot double trailers
I have built a few of these kit and it is a pleasure to build. I really like the roll up rear door. It takes a few simple
adjustments and well worth it to get a smooth operation. The detail is outstanding. Fantastic addition to any collection. When all hooked up it is a long truck. I see a lot of people winning about flash, so what, comes off easily not a big deal. Don't pay any attention to that. I don't have any flash to mention on my kits. A must have kit.
Mixed Opinions
Ordered (2) sets, so I can build Triples, and have a single pup trailer. This is an older re-release kit, so there is a LOT of flash that needs to be cleaned up. A new sharp knife, and a good sanding block will make it easier to clean up the parts. There really isn't any other viable option for 1/25 trailers, so while the kit is NOT of Tamiya quality, the price reflects this. There are NO numbers on the sprues for parts identification. Watch YouTube videos for build tips, and test fit parts to avoid mistakes.
