Coaling Station Kit

I think at times Model Power products are overlooked. I have two of these coaling towers, one kit and one a built-up, one at an engine service facility and one for an intermediate coaling station. They are identical models. There is no real need to repaint these structures for realism but I did a small amount of weathering on the corrugated roofs at the top of the tower conveyors. Just a drop or two thin (very watered down) rust paint. It takes longer to clean the brush than to apply the paint. I did paint the office in yellow ocher to tone it down a bit and to better match other structures, like the Walthers WRR2813 water tank (which I recommend). I also added some paint to the buckets that carry the coal to the top of the bunker. On the opposite side of the tipple there is a facility to unload hopper cars before hoisting the coal to the top of the bunker. I’ll stop short of saying these are easy to build but newcomers to the hobby need not worry about not having the skills to build it, because if someone can handle a water pistol without getting themselves wet they’re good to go, with the help of detailed instructions that are easy to understand and with good illustrations. Either way these are great little models and will add a lot to your layout for a reasonable price and a little work that is actually fun to do.
