"Left feeling Deserted"

The MPC 84 GMC model kit held promise and hope that I was about to add a square body GM truck to my display case. However is was a long journey and...at least ended with a model being built. For starters the box art is great, colorful and inviting. Upon opening up you get to see a stack of great 4 wheel drive parts and that beautiful square body truck. Not to many mold lines and were not in difficult places to deal with. Super tall suspension with beefy desert dog tires and large sized wheels. The rest of the plastic was in decent shape but did have some flash on it, but nothing to bent out of shape about. I painted this model kit 4 times, and on the 4th, really didn't care how it finished. I had a great interior built and ready for a nice two tone brown paint scheme. My next problem was that I had a few parts that were short shot, of which were the cab of the truck, and the rear differential, and the front springs. OK, I can deal, its called modeling. With the problems with paint and the suspension components the way they were, this model became a shelf model for me. I had to just use some styren to generically make the front suspension, and then cast the front differential to make a rear differential to use. I did buy two kits and raided the other kit to see if I could swipe some parts, but both copies of my kits had the same issues. Pros of this kit are, a great subjet matter, oversized wheel and tire package, and all the 4 wheel drive add ons. Cons of this kit are, some flash to deal with, short shot parts, and somewhat lacking detail to the interior. Final thoughts. I love me some trucks and love to build them. Even thought I had to repaint multiple times I stuck with it, even when struggling with the suspension, I stuck with it. I wanted to have a completed model. I will have some pretty nice extra parts for the parts box when finished. Will I buy another one of these? Probably not, but this is my second MPC model kit in a row and I have 1 more in my stash. We will see how that one goes.

Its been awhile from the first time I built this truck my grandson plays with it so its been redone at least four times but the truck goes together good I did have a problem with the bed and tailgate area its a little tricky I will tell ya this the 1984 GMC is a tuff model kit it still looks ok after being worked over by a 3 year old I definitely have to buy another one for my collection sorry I don't remember much about the build thanks Hobbylinc

"Good kit"

Let me start out by saying this is a good kit, good detail, goes together easy enough, be careful with the front suspension. The instructions dont give an option for dual quad set up but the kit does include dual carbs which go good with the headers.
