Russian KV9 Heavy Tank (New Variant) (FEB)

This is another nice kit from Trumpeter, of one of the obscure WWII prototype versions on the Soviet KV chassis. The kit's tread style is of the molded sectional link variety, without the option of the long rubber strip type. The turret and roadwheel/return roller style is correct for the unit, and I was pleased to see that Trumpeter had included an extra standard gun tube and mantle, in case the builder decided to go that route. With the standard gun tube and mantle, the produced unit would represent an example of the KV-1 M1942 Early production Cast Turret version, and with a set of older-style roadwheels/return rollers it could be made into a KV-1 M1941 Late production Up-Armored Cast Turret example (both shared the exact same turret). Overall, the kit is of excellent quality, and I would highly recommend it to others.
