IJN Battleship Yamashiro 1942

The 'Yamashiro' was 1 of 2 'Fuso'-type battleships built in the early 1900s. Both were lost in the 2nd World War during the Leyte Gulf campaign in the Philippines. Yamashiro headed up 1 of 4 separate fleets, heading toward the central Philippines, when it encountered an Allied task force in Surigao Strait and was sunk in the early hours of October 25, 1944. I had been hunting for this kit for several years until I finally found 1 back in 2008. This 6-turret battleship with its highly pronounced 'pagoda' superstructure/bridge, along with smaller sites for gun directors & searchlights, is a great kit to assemble. It requires some patience as there are a good number of small parts, specifically things like searchlights & antiaircraft guns. The pagoda mast so typical of IJN battleships is also a little more challenging, as there are so many components to build it up. Highly recommended.
