Awesome finishing pads
I use these pads for wet sanding painted surfaces. They include 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000, and 12000 grit sanding pads. They make a great painted surface. The shine you get after properly wet sanding is amazing. I use them with Createx Auto Air paints. I coat with 3 coats of the base color. Then I do a complete series of wet sanding with the pads. and you could leave the paints like this if you want a satin finish, but I usually coat with 3 to 5 coats of alclad II clear gloss Lacquer. Then I lightly wet sand with the 4000, 6000, 8000 and 12000 grit pads. And then finsh off with Novus 2 and then Novus 1. You can see your face in the finish. These pads are absolutely wonderful.
Great for polishing paint
I used this set for polishing Tamiya spray lacquer on a car model. The coarsest 3000 grit easily removed orange peel from the paint. After working through all the grits, by the time I got to the 12,000, the paint already had a soft sheen to it. Finished off with Novus #2 plastic polish, and the results are great. I will also be using this to polish resin castings.
Surprising results
I have never had to buff/sand out a paint screw up before so needless to say i was quite surprised that these pads did the trick. I had to respray the quarter panels on a model long after I had initially painted the body. I taped it off and sprayed, but sadly ended up with some obvious tape lines. And to think I was on the final assembly when this issue arose. I used these to smooth out the issue, retaped closer to the contour lines and resprayed, and now you can not tell the difference.
