"H-21 Banana - Beautiful Bird"
JRB (Burleson, Texas)
I ordered this model (as I do most) because of my childhood. I am a baby boomer and was a dependent of a military aviator. I was and still am a sponge when it comes to military history and its hardware. This H-21 was to be more sentimental than anything else. What I found was a wonderfully designed and crafted model. It has enough detail to try your skill level and enough to be spot on realistic. I really enjoyed the build with only one small problem in design found on the last day while putting on the decals. The way the rotor blades are cast, there is a thin segmented detail that (as in my case) caused the blades (yes 2) to droop and fall off while I was just admiring it. I had to cut a couple of very small copper splints to glue on the top and bottom, bridging the reconnect and then paint to cover. The thinness of the blades and the blade droop are a very realistic aspect of this old bird. They just don't need this segmented detail at that location. Like I stated, other than that, this build was a fun, challenging, and accurate trip down memory lane. The Italians are okay in my book.
