Good detail for the price.
Very easy to assemble. I prepared the Styrene surface with PolyUrethane surface primer to take the acrylic base coats, dry brushing for finishing. I recommend using the primer approach, so your colors will pop and emphasize the details in these nice little towers. Next, I'll be putting an orange flickering led to simulate a wood-burning stove and lanterns. I'll upload a pic of the two I built soon.
Easy to build, but no stairway to upper floor
This interlocking tower evidently has internal stairs to the second floor. Since all of the pictures of interlocking towers I have seen had stairs to the upper floor, I was forced to make (buy) them myself. This required putting a door on the second floor because none was provided in the kit--all windows on the top floor. That being said, it is an easy build with some nice detail and is a must if you have a rail yard with many turnouts or crossovers. With an interlocking tower, you don't need switch stands at every junction because the turnouts will be operated by underground linkage to the interlocking tower.
Nice period tower
I was looking at this kit for a while and finally pulled the trigger. I'm glad I did. It is a beautiful, turn of the century tower, perfect for my just post 1900 railroad. Models of towers are usually big, bulky affairs modeled after some major crossing or division yard. I needed a small secondary (or even tertiary, LOL) level building for a small editor's small yard. This is perfect.
The kit is great, as is any Tichy item. I may end up buying all of their kits! It goes together well, all parts are there, and makes a nice looking building. It would be easy to modify or kit bash.
