"Hughes 500D TOW - Not bad for the price"

The Hughes 500D TOW by Academy is a good model for the price. This particular heli (in TOW configuration) is relatively rare as it is fielded by only a small percentage of the worlds armed forces. My research indicated Israel and Kenya as having the largest numbers of this aircraft. Luckily, Academy includes decals for both countries with this kit as well as two different configurations for the TOW targeting system (mast mounted Longbow style and/or nose mounted FLIR style). The kit itself features all recessed panel lines, optional extra seats for passengers, and 1 loose rear door to display open if wanted. Keep in mind this heli is a small bird and at 1/48 this build is an exercise in micro-modeling. Fit of the parts was average to good with a little filling/cutting/shaping needed in some areas. The cockpit interior is fairly basic, but again at this level of scale (and price) it was not surprising. I thought it interesting however that no collective control was provided, just the typical control stick. This model looks great on my shelf with Kenyan Army markings, light/dark brown camo scheme, and some extra custom details I added. Overall this model is good for the price, relatively simple to build with so few parts yet challenging because of its size. If you have a small space on your display shelf this model will fit perfectly.

An awesome helicopter to add to your collection. Perfect scale size and a really great price on it by Hobbylinc.Probably recommended for a slightly more skilled model builder. This is due to the small parts - but still a great kit and I highly recommend it.
