This was the best model we've done so far. Lots of detail and parts to paint. Separate suspension components, lights, mirrors, etc.etc.. We each took a section to detail and went at it. There is a choice of accessories for the roof. We chose the water cannon. The model builds nice and easy. Be careful with the handrails on the rear. The ladder on the right of the truck is removable. The best part about this model was that once we finished it we took it to the local fire station. My daughter said I just built this with my dad and had fun. I was wondering if I could see the real thing. In like Flynn!! She got a tour of the firehouse, got to get in the full size apparatus, got to see how the thermal imaging camera that the firefighters use works, and even got a coloring book. Interestingly, the Fire Chief told us that the large hoses on the side of the model aren't really used much anymore. He said they were a special non-collapsing hose that is used for extracting water from lakes or ponds for the truck to pump. He said nowadays, especially in the big city where we live, they just hook up to the hydrant and pump away. We had a blast and were able to take a simple model build project and turn in into a memory she will never forget. Now we will build the Police car and see what happens. :)
