"Good kit"

Great theme for a kit. It shows its age, but still a great kit.

"Wow, this builds into a very impressive model!"

The pros – this very large box features some very large pieces and only one in my model was warped. It is a very unique example of a mail truck. The box says that there are 275 pieces, but I counted 350 (plus or minus). The fit overall was relatively good. It’s a big model so good for any size hands. The trailer door opens and closes (if you plan and take your time) and the cab flips/lifts forward (but it will also come off if you aren’t very careful with it). If you clean the release agent off, the plastic takes paint very well. The decal worked great. The cons – the instructions are vague. A lot of flash. Some pieces had to be separated with an Xacto saw. Some trees and parts have no numbers at all (you have to refer to a separate set of instructions), but the instructions then call for numbers in the assembly process (could be confusing). Many extra parts (roughly 50 give or take) and those can be confusing as well. The illustration for Step 3 (chassis) is incorrect. Huge knock out marks right smack in the huge rearview mirrors, and speaking of rearview mirrors, the instructions confused me completely. I looked at the box photo example, and even they had mounted the mirrors non-vertical and wonky! I ignored the instructions and built them to where they look more realistic. Anyway, I would recommend this kit to anyone with some experience in modeling. Too confusing and too many parts for a novice. But, it might be nice to build with an older child, other adults or if you have time. Sure looks great and gave me quite the sense of accomplishment when completed. Recommended.
