"A pretty good kit"

One of my favorite trucks and a decent model of it. The kit was well executed and went together well. There weren't too many options available tho. As one who rarely builds 'em stock I was a little frustrated with the lack of options. Nothing against the Texaco truck, that just isn't the direction I wanted to go. It does look good and the fiddle and fit wasn't really too bad.

"Lots of room for customizing!"

My kids got me this kit for Christmas and I got myself a couple more to work on in the future. My Dad worked for the New Jersey Central Railroad many years ago and they had these for MOW vehicles so I decided to build it as a CNJ vehicle. The body and bed are separate from the chassis and frame so you have a lot of leeway to add details and customize. For this kit, I added plug wires, coil and battery wiring, etc. I will do more in the other kits I will be doing in the future. The fit overall is decent but my hood was a bit warped. Very hot water and some bending got it close to the proper shape. The wheels press-fit onto the front end and rear axle but it is delicate. I suggest you attach the wheels BEFORE you mount the front and rear end. Less likely to break them that way. The painting suggestions are somewhat incorrect for the 1950 Chevy pickup. Best to do your own research if you want to accurately paint your kit. Overall, a good kit with LOTS of room to spare for improvements, detailing and adding your own custom touch! Up next for me, the stock Texaco and then a full-blown custom!

i love old chevys, i did not put the decals on this as i wanted it to look like a show truck. i 2 toned it and it looks great. this model went together real easy and i would recommend this. i think i have bought all the chevy trucks this website has to offer. Great website.
