"Beautiful, requires an inordinate amount of time"
richardadrury
This is a beautifully shaped model, but everything must be pre-fitted and fiddled with before you even think about gluing. Some parts were missing. With respect to the deck - in some cases, disregard the order outlined in the instructions; work from the outside in; otherwise the space will be too tight and the parts are too tiny. Even though it looks like you should glue all the support members to the deck, don't do it. If you do the central hull pieces won't fit well. Connecting the pullies and rope eyes for the cannons is a hit-and-miss affair; as are the cannon doors. The helm frame parts do not fit the deck sockets. I could go on. That said, I do not regret this purchase because; eventually, it will be completed. I bought it because it was a beautiful example of a late 16th century frigate. I've chopped off just about everything that makes it look like a Pirate Ship, used different colors and a different figurehead. But I would not wish this kit on a friend; everything about it (except lashing the life boat (which was a modification) has been an ordeal. BTW, the large plastic sales dramatically downgrade the model. I intend to chop them off with only the yards remaining. Unless you really love something about the look of this model, I'd leave it alone.

"A great project if you like the details"
woodcox.tim (Sterling Heights, Michigan)
This is a great model, definitely not for the beginner. Revell has it as a class 5 and if you take it to the end and do all the rigging it is every bit of that. I would have given 5 stars but the kit did not have as many rigging pulleys as needed to finish according to the directions. Cannon tie down rigging parts were also short. None of this is on Hobbylinc! In fact they were able to come up with a spare sprue with enough pulleys to finish the model. Probably painting the details is the most time consuming part followed by rigging, the actual assembly of the plastic pieces is about the least time intensive part of the model. The rigging instructions were another reason for the 4 star rating as they are not very clear. Molding flash and ejector marks were almost non-existent so very little trimming and filing. Take your time, be patient, and you will have a great finished product.
