"simply perfect"

I just loved this model the cockpit is perfectly detailed, you can build either the early mk1, late mk1a or mk2a, just choose the parts are all in there Being my 4th spitfire in 1/72, must say this one beats the competition Nice work Airfix Good fit in all of the parts, nice landing gear, perfect details, you can use both the early wood or the late constant speed/variable pitch propeller, just choose. You'll only need to check the pics, as the original Mk1 that is represented may need some tweeks on the decals... appart from that, just get it and build it

This otherwise excellent kit has a few small hurdles. First is the cockpit assembly. It is very detailed, but very delicate. The plastic is quite soft and the pieces don't exactly snap together the way you might hope they would. Once it's all glued together and dry, it turns out to be too wide to squeeze between the fuselage halves, requiring some filing and sanding, and a good deal of patience. Next you'll have to cement the fuselage to the wings, which turns out to be another impossibly tight fit, and you'll risk wrecking the dihedral angle of the wings. More filing and sanding. After all that, construction is a cinch. The landing gear went in without a problem, the decals were first rate, and the finished product is very satisfactory. Like all of Airfix's recent releases, this one comes with a complete set of stencils and full-color painting guide.
