MC202 Folgore WWII Fighter

This 1/72 scale kit comes from a well-known Italian model company called Italeri. I’ve built many of their kits in the past and I’ve enjoyed that for the most part and this one here is no exception. The pros for this kit are as follows: You have four paint schemes to choose from and the one I did is on the cover of the box called M.C. 202 Folgore, LTN. Mazzoleni, 378th Squadriglia (Squadron), 155th Gruppo (Group), 51st Stormo Caccia Terrestri (Fighter-interceptor wing), Gela 1942. The other three versions included are: M.C. 202 Folgore, 24th Gruppo Autonomo (Autonomous) Caccia Terrestri, Olbia-Venafiorita, Sardegna, June 1943; M.C. 202 Folgore, SGT. Gualberto Benzi 396th Squadriglia, 154th Gruppo Autonomo, Rhodes-Gadurrah, Summer 1943; and M.C. 202 Folgore, Aeronautica Del Sud (Southern Air Force) 92nd Squadriglia, 8th Gruppo, 5th Stormo Caccia, Lecce, 1944. I like how it has a correction sheet for Version A aka the one on the cover as it turns out the original picture is wrong. All of the pieces fit well indeed. The colored illustrations and views are wonderful! The cons for this kit are as follows: I found out that the propeller decals are hard to see in the instructions. Some of the decals are, needless to say, quite difficult to remove from the paper. Examples included are one of the tail cross decals as it folded over and ripped apart. I had to repaint the decal in the process. The other is one of the national insignia decals on the bottom side of the wing as a small piece of it ripped apart. Fortunately it was an easy fix for me. In conclusion, I give this kit a rating of 5 stars out of 5! Italeri if you’re reading this, it is a great kit from you as a whole but I would suggest that you make your decals a little easier to remove from the paper and for them to be more durable as well.
