"Excellent service"

I checked the mail today and I was surprised to find that my model was here already because it wasn't supposed to be here until tomorrow. I am very pleased with this especially considering I ordered this a few days ago and went with the cheapest shipping option. But what really amazed me is that it arrived early AND in one piece so to speak. Definitely going to be coming back for more.

"Spanish galleass"

This ship is not a galleon they do not use oars. This is a Galleass a hybrid sail and oar warship. This kit goes together fairly well but has a few issues. The 1st is it has no rat lines the spider web of ropes the crew climbs to get to the crows nest. If you want them you will have to make them from scratch. This is done by using very fine black thread you will tie to the mounts on the hull and run them up to the mast then keep running until you can tie it off to the mounts on the other side of the hull. The instructions give a good picture of what it should look like when done. Then you have to glue on the cross ropes to your rat lines to give the spider web look. The other issue is the sails are molded in brown plastic. This means you have to paint the sails white which is a pain over the brown plastic. The mast are fairly easy you glue the sails to the mast be sure when you do this the sails are going to be pointing in the right direction when you install the mast they have the half moon cut outs on the bottom so you can't adjust them if you mess up. The other issue is the tiny details that you need to paint like the crucifix on the stern with jesus on it is tiny. The oars on the other hand are very easy as they are one piece you just glue it to the hull.the instructions do not give good instructions especially if you want to rig the rigging. all there is, Is the one profile picture for the painting and decals. The decals are paper you have to glue them to the mast but the paper is sturdy. So over all okay but could be better.

"Basic kit with a lot of potential."

I read several bad reviews of this kit over on Amazon. People were complaining about how small and basic it is. I guess they don't understand scale. Yes, this kit is small and basic. But I enjoy the challenge of making these small kits into decent models. I took my time and actually planked the tiny decks with thin strips of plastic. Since the hatches on the kit were barely there, I used even thinner plastic strips to scratch-build new ones. Rigging these small kits can be a pain but it adds a lot to the finished product. This kit can be built as is and make a good first or second kit for a beginner, or you can take your time with it and have something nice.
