"Average Revell"
I was pleased for the most part with this kit. It has minimal flash as you would expect with a Revell. Most of the parts went together well. I was very pleased with the window glass. The windows always prove to be my bane when building a kit. It seems if I get enough cement to hold them, then it squashes out onto the glass and mars it, and if I use cement sparingly to avoid that, I don't get enough to hold them in the first time. These windows had enough overlap to allow more cement without jacking up the glass. I did encounter a couple of areas of disappointment with this kit. I built the drag version with the slicks on the back. The fender wells aren't wide enough to accommodate the slicks without them rubbing right up against the body, and squeezing the tops of the tires so as to make them lean in at the tops. Additionally, the exhaust pipes would not stay glued to the underside of the chassis. The tails are far enough from the underside that it creates too much spring in the pipes when you push them down to contact the chassis. These disappointments could probably be overcome by someone more creative than myself!

"It might be better, but I doubt it."
This kit is a 'made in China' one, but contrary to what one might believe this kit is well made. I just reviewed a 57 Chevy Roth version from Revell made in the USA - not good, and that is being kind. I haven't finished this kit, but so far I have been impressed with the fit. One piece even had a guide pin to insure proper positioning. Detail is really nice. Separate frame, gas tank, exhaust system, wipers, and more make detailing easy. It has a fuel filter and fuel pump with fuel lines. A distributor with the vacuum advance. I submit most kits don't have all of this at a great price. The only thing that might be missing is wires for the ignition. Check out the Revell instructions. Revell kits are not inexpensive, but the instructions, an invaluable source, are available on their site. I do have some qualms about the plastic, but I can't yet articulate what is bothersome. Maybe because the plastic is such a bright white. It looks more plastic coated than plastic. However, it is a good kit for the money. And, the 57 Fireball Roberts kit might be as good, except for the interior. But it does have a supercharger. I think it is a Paxton, but clearly better than the one that is found in the AMT 57 Ford Fairlane.

"Good starting-point."

I bought several of these kits so I could use my imagination to customize them. One will be stock built, eventually. The kit is well-detailed and lends itself to modifications and customizing very well. The modular sub-assmeblies allow for extra detailing. It assembles in much the way a real car would. Check out the photo gallery and you can see how I modified some of the kits into a few interesting subjects.

Not much I didn't like on this kit, It doesn't help that 57 Ford is my favorite car of all time! If I had to nit pick something it would be the chrome, as other modellers have reported and we all know the cheap chrome in today's kits isn't up to par! flakes off easily and if your super lucky you can get your bumpers/rims off the trees without damage, also we would ALL like more tire and rim choices in EVERY kit=not all tastes are the same! while your at it add more exhaust choices! I found the provided air cleaners for the dual quad set up small and wimpy so went to the parts box for a suitable replacement. you really can't go wrong with this offering, everything fits very well. that 57 Limo is awesome!! Happy Modelling!

Due to small parts that could cause a choking hazard please kee away from children 3 years of age and younger.
