Gloster Gladiator Aircraft

Picked this model up fairly cheap and didn't think it would be to interesting of a build.....and boy was I wrong. This was a very fantastic build. The paint scheme was very interesting and stands out among my other builds. This kit has both the potential as a great kit for a beginner and as well a great build for a veteran modeler.

I bought this kit partly for price but also the very favorable reviews not expected for a Lindberg kit, and a good fit for my WWII deal. I opened the kit and immediately was wondering, where are the rest of the parts?! the detail was poor the fit was just okay. The instructions wee good, and decals were good too. AS I went about building, the kit became more fun and I had forgotten the headache of gluing the wings together on a bi-plane could be. The one detail they got right was the bracing wire included in the kit; not easy, but, again, fun. I used superglue for the different lengths; superglue dries quicker and adheres more readily to mixed surfaces, I think. I don't totally agree with the rave reviews before me, but in the end I found the kit worthwhile, and a bargain.

This model was so much fun to build! Parts were highly detailed, crisply molded, and went together very easily with little filling or sanding needed. Surface detail is lightly raised and includes the wavy texture of a fabric covered aircraft. The upper wing comes in three sections: a center span and the two outer panels. This makes assembly simple. You can attach the upper center section to the fuselage supports. Then once dry, you can glue the outer supports and outer wing panels together to the center section. A fairly detailed cockpit that includes a floor with rudder petals, a seat, an instrument panel, a control column, rear decking, and one of the most detailed pilot figures I've ever worked with. The pilot comes in 4 pieces: torso, 2 arms, legs. There is a way to cut out the door on the port side. The kit supplies two sets of canopy parts: a closed canopy and a front wind screen and open main canopy. Model comes with decals for two different aircraft. Units are not specified, but this kit is ideal for casual builders who build for fun.
