Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

At first, I was a bit disappointed because the engine looked pretty simple, but upon actually building it, I didn't care as much you really can't see much of the engine in the finished model. The interior has good detail, and the building is very satisfying with doors and hood that open/close and can stay open. It goes together really well, and it's actually a fun build. I kinda wish it was the newer, more aggressive version of the SLS, but the kit is still fun.

I can't fault this kit for much. The instructions are first rate and super detailed. The kit itself mostly went together well. However, as I did the build I began to feel that the kit is a bit over engineered. Some assemblies seemed to me to be needlessly complex. I found the directions for building the gull wing doors not quite clear. I ended up redoing some of the parts, and one part was quite flimsy and one end broke. I had to glue it back together. Other than that, I love the open door look and the styling.

Very nice kit and fun to build. Excellent detail on the interior and looks great when finished and I love the way you can display it and see all the detail with the doors open. One problem I had was that I found out you have to have the hood installed before you put the body on the chassis. If you don’t, you will not be able to get the hood latches past some of the reinforcement parts in the engine bay. My door’s opened a little too tightly, and actually took the paint off of the top edge of the door, so I had to re-paint one door. In hindsight, I should have sanded a little more of the top edges down to give it a little bigger reveal gap. Other than that this is an excellent kit that I highly recommend. Two thumbs up!
