"Surprising detail for an older kit."
benhinkle711
The detail on this kit, specifically the engine fuel system, was surprising given the age of the kit. Assembly was fairly straightforward until the very end when placing the body onto the frame. In the instructions it says to mount the core support to the frame but I would recommend doing the opposite and mount the core support to the body and then glue to the frame upon final assembly. The parts on this kit were crisp and there are duplicates of many of the parts which are nice to have around for other GM builds. Additionally there are choices of stock and custom parts for the interior as well as the suspension and wheels, and the white letter tires are excellent. My only complaint about this kit is no interior or gauge decals, sorry Round 2 I'll take an expanded decal sheet over the nice tires. Overall a highly recommended re-release of this old AMT/ERTL kit.

"Awesome kit"

Overall this kit was a very fun build. Straight forward kit. Some options and choices along the way in which direction to take your build custom or stock.

"Very nice kit."

I had fun building this model with the exception of getting the exhaust and rear suspension setup correctly with the frame. It fought me a little, but that was the only real issue I had. The engine has more detail then most models, let alone some of the other offers from AMT. The interior was nicely detailed and I really liked the detail on the dashboard. I'm not one that likes dashboard decals, I prefer to paint and detail them myself. All in all, I fun model to build.

"Nice Quick Build"

I wanted to do a quick build to have the Catalina on my desk at work. Well we all know there is no such thing as a quick build, when the model is skill level 2 and above. After I slowed down and took my time, this car came out really nice. You have to make sure you do good prep work and make sure items fit before and after paint. This was my first model with a matte finish, and I was very satisfied how it turned out.
