Supermarine Spitfire Mk 22/24 Fighter

I am currently helping my 13 year old son with this model- it is a handful. Revell made a separate piece for the upper wing roots and after much dry fitting, I figured it out. (make everything before the wingroot step, then add each wingroot to the main (bottom wing) assembly- clamp edge to edge to the wing assembly, let dry, then squeeze the fuselage into place when the roots are solid.) Looks awesome when assembled- tight, no filler. It helps keep the fuselage from spreading out. The wing roots really fit well if you sand them square-edge and don't add them the way the directions say to. They have a lot of mold draft angle. Also- the engraved panel lines have some flash that raises ABOVE the part's surface. Much sanding needed to smooth the parts. There is also a lot of sinks in the outer surfaces from internal molded features- might not be visible with a flat paint finish. I would recommend to experienced challenge seekers.
