"Love these great old kits!"
A37mike
Nice to see Round 2 reissue this old 1958 Hawk kit! Last time I built this model was in 1960 for a second grade show and tell. The molding is good with only a little flash noted. The clear parts are exceptionally clear with no flaws noted. I did have a little trouble mating the spherical parts but with careful, sectionalized gluing you should have no problems. This model would lend itself to super detailing but I didn't take that road. Instead I built this model out of the box over a weekend and had a ball doing it! It was like seeing an old friend again. Well done Round 2, keep those old kits coming!

"Classic kit of Vanguard satellite prototype"

This is a re-issue of a classic space program kit. Be aware that it is a model of a proposed design, not quite the configuration of the actual Vanguard satellite. Nevertheless, it's a great addition to anyone's aerospace mini-museum. While not a difficult kit, it does require some patience.

First, I want to thank my fellow baby boomers for revitalizing our hobby over the last two decades. The renewed interest has paid off in the growth of new model companies and the salvaging of older ones. Round 2 has grabbed hold of Hawk model molds and has begun re-releasing classic kits. Vanguard 1 is a great recovery. My brother first built this kit back in 1964. It was re-released during the Apollo era when I built it. With about half of the model molded in clear plastic, it is meant to be a demonstration model. Also, it is based on pre-launch designs by the US Navy. The actual version features exterior solar panels. Nevertheless, this is a collectible kit that will make a great addition to anyone's Space Age mini-museum.
