"SB2U2 Vindicator Aircraft Review"

This 1/72 scale kit is from a familiar Czech model company to me called Special Hobby. I've had a love/hate relationship with them in my modeling career. Some of their models are good while others are not so good but this kit is a good one. For all honesty I really don't have anything bad to say about this kit other than one of the bomb racks broke and the decals are almost fragile. But they were easy fixes. You have a choice of four different paint schemes and the one I chose is the one on the cover. It is an SB2U-2 Vindicator, BuNo 1369, VS-72, Chamber Field, NAS Norfolk, VA, January 1941. Carries the battle-efficiency E award on the fuselage. The second option is the SB2U-2 Vindicator, BuNo 1333, NAS North Island, March 1941, was star of the pre-war color film Dive Bomber, later served with VF-71 and VS-72. The third option is the SB2U-2 Vindicator, VS-41 High Hats, USS Ranger, the Atlantic Ocean, 1942, conducted long range patrols, but was phased out before Operation Torch and replaced by the SBD Dauntless. The final option is the SB2U-2 Vindicator, BuNo 1381, Tactical Unit One, Commander Aircraft, Battle Force, Pacific Fleet, March 1941. TU-1 was directly assigned to Vice Admiral William F. Halsey and may have operated from his flagship USS Enterprise. So for me the painting and building of this kit is quite well done and I give it a score of 5 out of 5 I highly recommend this kit to anyone who loves to find and build very rare and exotic aircraft like this one
