"Nice kits, difficult decals"
philciborowski
I will say that the fit of both these kits is great- minimal filling on the wing/fuselage seam on the F86, no problems with the P47. I have built several of the F86s before, this one being the version of the kit with the slats separated from the wings. The detail is adequate, and lends well to detail painting. The worst part of the whole experience was the decals. I figured out (way too late mind you), that using HOT water helps, along with a ton of solvaset. I ruined the yellow stripe decals on the Sabre, and the invasion stripes on the P47. I painted the invasion stripes on (and forgot to make the space for the registration code), which was more rewarding than using the decals. The F86 is awating aftermarket decals to be completed. The one thing that bothers me about my completed build is that the formation lights on the bottom of the P47 are actually raised bubbles and not engraved, and I wish I had changed that before I finished mine. For the price, and what comes in the box, this is a pleasant building experience.
