Nissan R390 GT1 Racecar GT1

The R390 GT1 took its name from a car, R380, that excited Japanese motor sports enthusiasts over thirty years ago. Jointly developed by Nissan and TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing), the R390 GT1 is the state of the art racing expertise of them. Aerodynamically refined low and sleek body styling is suggestive of Nissan's highly competitive Gr. C machines raced during the 1980's. The 3.5 liter V8 engine, producing an awesome 600 horsepower output, is bolted directly to the carbon composite monocoque and works as a load-carrying element. The tremendous power is delivered to the rear wheels via a transversely mounted, six speed transmission. The four wheel double wishbone suspension system is connected to the horizontally mounted shock absorbers via pushrods and bell cranks to provide optimum road handling performance.

"Another Great Tamiya Car Kit"

There's a whole range of 1:24 scale car kits and after trying a couple of vintage-style race cars moved on to Rally and Race cars. Don't be afraid of the decals seeming to be complicated as the fit very well and are a little forgiving (they don't have to be perfect to give a good image). Agree with others that the Chassis/Engine/Interior is a good model all by itself and doesn't need the exterior shell to make a good display. My only issue with the kit is that it is molded in white and has white decals so the whole kit needs some form of color to make them effective. With that being said you can try a different color scheme as you wish.

"Tamiya models"

I try to only buy tamiya because their models are so details. This model is great. I love models which have complete engine detail. The engine in the Nissan R390 is very detailed. The model came on time and in good shape. I will be ordering more models from Hobbylinc

This kit is great. Excellent engine detail and decals. It has all the typical stuff you would expect from Tamiya with excellent parts, great fit, color guides, etc. I have been a big fan on all the GT1 models they have.

Overall the kit is very good as would be expected from Tamiya. The engine is has good detail as does the interior. There are really only two trouble areas with it. The first is the hood fade decal, getting it to lay flat, especially at the front on the sides isn't easy. To do it again I would have cut the sides off and laid the decal on in three pieces. The other issue is the engine cover body piece is supposed to be removal so you can take it on and off as you please. The problem with this is there are multiple decals that bridge the gap between the engine cover and the chassis of the car. Also and more importantly I had a hard time getting it to fit right even with gluing it so it would take a lot of work to make it fit without gluing it in place.
