"The only game in town for a 1/72 B47"
jimmbbo
As the first US all-jet bomber in squadron service, the B-47 was an historically important airplane that can't get no respect from model manufacturers. With at least nine releases since the 1960s, the antique Hasegawa B-47 has been around since the dinosaurs that turned into petroleum for plastic roamed the earth, and attempting to build it reveals how long in the tooth it is. The lack of cockpit and landing gear bay detail is common for its age, but is woefully inadequate compared to today's kits, and the fit is typical of older Hasegawa kits... Terrible. With all that in mind, it is the ONLY GAME IN TOWN for a modeler who wants a 1/72 B-47, and if you have some modeling skills that include the patience and ability to fit, sand, fill, sand, fill and encouraging parts to fit, and can handle preparing the model and applying a natural metal finish, a stunning model CAN be built. Without those skills, a modeler is opening the box on a frustrating build. If a modeler is able to wrestle this kit to the ground and overcome its problems, its impressive size makes it an attractive addition to the collection. RECOMMENDATION QUALIFICATION - MODELING SKILLS AND PATIENCE REQUIRED...

Got this for Christmas (and others). Plastic is pretty strong and all parts fit well. Have some tape handy to hold large parts while glue dries. Most difficult area is keeping engine sections aligned on wings while glue dries. A nice looking aircraft when completed; very large.

"Great for the price"

This is one of Hasegawa's oldest current kits, dating from the 1960s. As such there are some molding issues, with poor fit on some parts and a fair amount of flash. It will take some sanding and filling to get it to look right, this is especially critical since you will want to simulate the natural metal finish on most of the airframe. Details are a little sparse, but the landing gear and cockpit are good. It makes up into a very large and impressive model, about 18 inches long. Combine that with the low price and you have a winner, if you are willing to put the work into it.
