"Fun and inexpensive build"

Revells BF-109G is an inexpensive model of arguably the most famous of the German WWII fighters. I have always found Luftwaffe paint schemes interesting and this a good kit to experiment with. The model is straight forward, not complicated, and reflects 70s/80s modeling standards. In fact, my model was still stamped Revell 1979 under the right vertical stabilizer. There is no pilot figure, no seat belts, and the cockpit in general is pretty sparse. There is a decal for the cockpit instrumentation but I chose to hand paint it instead. The canopy is three pieces and a more gifted modeler could probably figure out how to display it open, but for a modeler with my skills, it stayed closed. The kit fit is pretty good, in fact, I highly recommend you dry fit the main landing gears as they are extremely tight and in my case needed some trimming to get into the slots. The decals were good but if you havent tried putting on something like the spinner decal provided with the kit, look into Micro Sol. Initially the decal looked bad, but once the product settled it, the final result wasnt too bad. So if you want a less expensive model, one that doesnt take too long to build, and a subject that will allow you to have fun doing a different paint scheme, consider the Gustav. Have fun

"Decent kit"
jeremy.s.michels1
The kit overall was pretty good. I didn't encounter any issues while building the kit that weren't my own doing. The instructions were pretty clear and easy to follow. There was some flash on the parts but was easy to clean up and all of the pieces fit together nicely. At the end of the day, the plane is very cheap and makes it perfect for the beginning modeler or one that has a little more experience that would like to try new techniques without breaking the bank. The detailing on the plane was pretty nice to include the cockpit. It's not perfect, but again for the price it's hard to complain. I'd recommend this kit to anyone due to the price and the simplicity of the kit.

"Cool Plane, odd Scale"

I expect revell knows what they are doing but i was SHOCKED at how much smaller the BF109G was compared to my P-51, Hawker Typhoon, and A6M5C Zero on the 1:48 scale! I'm new to the modeling hobby, and certainly no expert on WWII aviation, but the BF109 is TINY. Furthermore, the landing gear is weak and couldnt fit in properly to hold up the airplane. I screwed up the canopy (which was my fault because I didnt use clear glass glue, but, normal modeling glue) so I had to abandon it altogether. Most of these issues are my fault because im new to modeling. BUT, please tell me that the bf109 WAS that tiny, cause it looks like a garden gnome next to my other three fighters.

"Small But Nice"

When I first bought this model, I was shocked at how small the Bf-109 actually was. It is a very small plane, but I like it a lot. Putting it together is rather easy, however, it took some effort putting the fuselage and wings together. This model is a good plane for beginners, and its small size is perfect for display.
