"Good classic kit"

The mig-21 was an iconic soviet fighter during the cold war. This kit from revell dates from the late 70's and was probably one of the earliest mig-21 kits in 1/48th scale. Detail is basic and the panel lines are raised. The fit is decent but some filler will be required. Though not as up to date or accurate as some of the newer releases, beginners and weekend builders will still enjoy this kit.

The MIG-21 has so many variants that it's insane. The PF stands for (translates to) Interceptor Upgraded. So this variant of the MIG-21 is MIG-21 Interceptor Upgraded. The kit is a reissue of a kit released over 3 decades ago. The kit, however has some fit issues. It still finishes to a nice kit. The price here though is really good. The kit is not up to today's new tech, but it still holds itself as one of the old school kits.

I was excited to get this as the MiG 21 has always been a favorite. When I first opened the box I thought it looked like a pretty good kit, however my opinion changed as I started to fit things together. None of the pieces are matching up. The left and right halves of the fuselage and tail are off by about 1/16. The same is true for the top and bottom wing halves which is even worse if you want to display wheels down as the mounting points for the landing gear are partially under the bottom section of the wing. Also the fuel drop tank is horribly molded especially the rear section with the fins. It is pretty much unusable without major modifications. At this point I'm not even sure I will complete this build as it will be too time consuming and I am not yet advanced enough to scratch build or extensively modify a kit that is this bad.

I enjoyed building this kit. Fit was good and detailing good. I did some minor scratch building in the cockpit area adding a little more details. Overall it turned out to be a very nice model. I found no con's other than the fit of the canopy.
